ChatGPT Health Introduced: Medical Intelligence in Your Pocket

OpenAI, the pioneer of artificial intelligence technologies, has announced its new ChatGPT Health (ChatGPT Sağlık) experience—built to help users manage their health journey in a more informed and organized way. With hundreds of millions of people turning to the platform every week for health and wellness questions, ChatGPT can now become a far more comprehensive assistant by securely combining these conversations with personal health records.

Here are all the details about ChatGPT Health, developed in collaboration with physicians and designed with privacy at its core.

What is ChatGPT Health?

ChatGPT Health is a dedicated workspace that securely integrates your medical records, wearable device data, and wellness apps with AI. Unlike the standard ChatGPT experience, this mode runs on a fully isolated infrastructure and includes layered security measures specifically designed for health data.

With this new feature, scattered health information (PDF lab results, smartwatch metrics, diet apps, etc.) is brought together and made meaningful in one place. Users can ask personalized questions like “How is my cholesterol trending?” or “Summarize my latest blood test before my doctor appointment,” and receive responses based on their own data.

Key Features and Integrations

ChatGPT Health doesn’t just provide general information—it can also communicate directly with popular health and fitness apps. Some of the major integrations the platform supports (and plans to support) include:

  • Apple Health: Analyzes your movement, sleep, and activity data (requires an iOS device).
  • Medical Records (EHR): Displays lab results and clinical history (initially limited to the U.S.).
  • MyFitnessPal & Function: Nutrition tracking, macro calculations, and blood test analyses.
  • Other Apps: Data exchange with platforms like AllTrails, Instacart, Peloton, and Weight Watchers.

Your Data Will Not Be Used for Model Training

Due to the sensitive nature of health data, OpenAI emphasizes that this module is built with a “Privacy-First” approach. Conversations and files uploaded in ChatGPT Health:

  1. Are isolated: Stored in a memory completely separate from your other chats.
  2. Are excluded from training: Data in this area is never used to train OpenAI’s core models.
  3. Are encrypted: Protected with purpose-built encryption.
  4. Remain under your control: You can revoke app permissions anytime or delete your health memory.

In addition, the system is supported with extra security layers such as data deletion within 30 days and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).

A Physician-Validated Approach

OpenAI collaborated with more than 260 physicians across 60 countries while developing this system. Using a dedicated evaluation framework called HealthBench, the model’s responses were tested against clinical standards for reliability, clarity, and safety.

Important Warning: ChatGPT Health is not designed to replace doctors or professional medical services, but to complement and support them. It is not intended to diagnose or treat; it helps users better understand their processes.

How to Use It — and When Will It Be Available?

ChatGPT Health is currently being tested with a small early user group. Over the coming weeks, it is planned to roll out gradually to all users across web, iOS, and Android platforms. Once active, a “Health” tab will appear in the ChatGPT sidebar, and users will be able to start the experience by connecting the relevant apps there.

Users who want to be among the first to try this new experience can sign up for OpenAI’s waitlist.
